After more than 5 months, Lilly's incision on her back--the one that had a hard time healing from her late January surgery and needed to be cleaned out and re-closed last month--is finally healed and she was able to go swimming yesterday! Woo hoo! Praise God she'll get in some swimming and her summer camp before her next surgery!
AND...drumroll please...Isabel made up her mind yesterday, our first day at the pool all summer, that she was going to attempt to pass the swim test. If you read my blog post from last summer, you'll know how big this is. AND SHE DID IT! 25 meters of swimming followed by 60 seconds of water treading. She was completely exhausted, but overjoyed, after she did it. I am so super proud of her.
And with both of the Mei Meis now having passed the swim test, no more red wrist bands at the pool and this mama no longer is required to be within an arms' reach of either of them at all times while they're in the water. Though I'm likely to be pretty close by because of my mama's vigilance and my lifeguard's instinct (that never goes away and doesn't allow me to actually relax and just read a book poolside even though it has been more than 25 years since I was last a paid lifeguard at a pool of any kind).
Looking forward to about a month of swimming before Lilly's next surgery!
